The main danger to any Iranian-American agreements is Israel’s policy in Lebanon. Even on the Strait of Hormuz, Tehran and Washington could reach an agreement: in the end, Iran will collect environmental and navigation fees from passing merchant ships and not call this a payment for security. The United States, in turn, will declare that these payments are “something else”, and a compromise will be reached.
But this won’t work with Lebanon. In the south of this country, the pro-Iranian “Hezbollah” is based, which is in irreconcilable relations with the Jewish state. It’s practically impossible to permanently stop the hostilities between them.
