Letters to the Editor
Press release from the Hongmen, an Asian society with 55 million members including Chinse President Xi Jinping:
Our Views on the Use of the Hong Men Name and Reports on International Organized Crime We are closely monitoring, with a strong sense of crisis, the activities of the Cambodian-based international money laundering network and the “Chinese mafia” suspected of being involved, which have recently been reported in the media and on social media. In particular, we express our views as follows regarding the fact that these criminal organizations and non-legitimate groups are inappropriately quoting and using the historical “Hong Men” name and symbols. 1. Concerns about the Misuse of the Name “Hong Men” is an organization with a history spanning several hundred years, inheriting its own traditional rituals and spiritual culture. However, in recent years, there have been cases where groups and individuals unrelated to its legitimate lineage have used the name “Hong Men” or “Freemason” to legitimize their own authority or for improper activities. From the perspective of those who inherit the legitimate lineage, these actions cannot be overlooked. 2. Protection of History and Honor We recognize that the history of Hongmen, which values proper rituals and the spirit of “following heaven and doing the way,” is not merely a record of an association, but a cultural heritage deeply intertwined with modern Asian history. Associating its name with criminal activity severely diminishes the historical dignity built by our predecessors and causes serious reputational damage to an organization that continues its legitimate activities. 3. Warning Against Illegal Groups The fact that some groups calling themselves “New Hongmen,” etc., and organizations not based on traditional lineage, are using the name “Hongmen” and engaging in economic and illegal activities has created many misunderstandings. We will strictly regulate the use of the name by such illegal forces and will continue our awareness campaigns to prevent the public from confusing these groups with legitimate Hongmen organizations. In Conclusion We resolutely oppose all organized crime that disrupts sound social order. We have received numerous reports of victims and are cooperating with the judicial authorities. At the same time, we are committed to ensuring that our historical name is not used as a cover for crime, by scrutinizing information and maintaining the legitimacy of our organization, and by fulfilling our commitment to the proper transmission of our traditional culture. Sincerely, Secretariat
Comment from Benjamin Fulford:
If I were a scam artist using the Hongmen name for crime, I would be very scared right now because these people play for keeps.
